Deductible Service Fee Deductions
Description
A new deduction setting option setting labelled Deductible Service Fee has been added in this release to deduction headers to allow deductions to be flagged as deductible service fee deductions.
If a payee deduction is linked to a deduction header that is flagged in this way, any payee deductions of the corresponding type that are deducted from a payee's earnings during a pay period will be itemised on a Deductible Service Fee Invoice. Such an invoice can be used to invoice a payee for services that have been provided, such as the provision of public liability insurance, for which the payee has paid through deductions form their earnings.
A Deductible Service Fee Invoice is generated automatically and delivered to a payee whenever a payslip is generated and delivered to the payee if the following applies to the payee:
the payee has had deductible service fee deductions deducted from their earnings in the pay batch to which the payslip corresponds
the pay document format group to which the payee is assigned includes a Deductible Service Fee Invoice format.
Benefits
This enhancement allows specific deductions to be flagged so that they can be itemised on a Deductible Service Fee Invoice and therefore this facilitates the ability to, for example, invoice contractors for services provided by your organisation.
Configuration
A deduction header can be flagged as a deductible service fee deduction by ticking the Deductible Service Fee field on the Pay > Maintenance > Deduction Header > Deduction Header Maintenance > Deduction Header Entry > Deduction Settings Entry section, as highlighted below.
Â
Deduction settings are locked down once there have been transactions against the deduction header for a date that falls within the validity period of the deduction settings (last used date of the deduction header falls on or after the deduction settings validity start date). Therefore, if you need to enable Deductible Service Fee field for a deduction then you may need to end date the last set of deduction settings and create a new set of deduction settings with a validity start date that falls after the last used date of the deduction header.
