Assigning Custom Bill Rate Formulas to Bill Agreement Bill Rate Rules

Description

An enhancement has been made in this release to bill rate rules on bill agreements to allow bill rates to be based on custom bill rate formulas.

The existing Margin Markup Type field on the Rates and Rules > Bill Agreements Dependent on Pay > Edit Bill Agree Agreement > Bill Rate Rule Entry screen now includes a new option that is labelled Bill Rate Formula. When this option is selected, a Bill Rate Formula dropdown field is enabled and allows the user to select a custom bill rate formula, as highlighted in the example below.

If the Bill Rate Formula option is selected in the Margin Markup Type field, the Rate and Pay Code fields are unavailable.

Custom bill rate formulas can also be applied to bill rate rules that belong to job template bill agreements.

Benefits

This enhancement allows custom bill rate formulas to be applied to bill agreement bill rate rules so that bill agreement rates can be calculated based on custom formulas instead of predefined margin/markup formulas.

Configuration

Before attempting to assign a custom bill rate formula to a bill rate rule, ensure that the relevant custom bill rate rules have been configured in Rates and Rules > Custom Bill Formulas (for more information, see Custom Bill Formulas).
To configure a bill rate rule on a bill agreement to use a custom bill rate formula, do the following:

  1. In Rates and Rules, open the relevant bill agreement and navigate to a bill rate rule or add a new bill rate rule (for more information, see Bill Rate Rules). The bill rate rule is displayed in the Bill Rate Rule Entry screen.

  2. In the bottom part of the Bill Rate Rule Entry screen, click Add to add a new sub-rate rule to the bill rate rule. A new blank row is added to the list of sub-rate rules.

  3. In the Margin Markup Type field, select Bill Rate Formula. The Rate field is grayed out and the Bill Rate Formula field is enabled.

  4. In the Bill Rate Formula field, select the name of the custom bill rate formula that will be used to calculate the bill rate for this bill item.

  5. Click to Save.

Bill rate rules are locked down (cannot be edited) once they have been used for bill interpretation. If you need to select a bill rate formula on a bill rate rule that has already been used, you will need to end date the existing rule and copy it before you can make changes to the rule to add the bill rate formula. For more information, see Bill Rate Rules.
