Working with Filters in BPME Rules

Filters can be added to BPME rules to further define the items the rule needs to apply to.

Add a Filter to a BPME rule

If the rule record is open, select the Filter tab.

The Filter record is displayed.

If the rule record is not open, follow the steps described in Manage existing BPME Rules to open the rule record.

Find the Field Rule item by clicking on the drop down arrow.

A list of fields available to apply filters to for the Record Type are displayed.

Click on the Field Rule item required.

The selected field is displayed.

Apply an Operator by using the drop down arrow and selecting the item required.

The selected Operator displays.

For example, where the filter requires that the Rule is only to run where the record's Status is 'Active' then the Operator would be 'Equal'.

Where the Operator has been applied, enter or select the Value.

The value selected or entered displays.

For example, where the filter requires that the Rule is only to run where the record's Status is 'Active', then the Value would be 'Active'.

The Value field type is determined by the Field Rule and Operator selected. For example, where the Field Rule item is 'Industry' and the Operator is 'Equal', the Value field displays all Industry Codes as a picklist. If the Operator is a group item like 'In' or 'Not In' the Value field displays all Industry Codes as a multi-select item.

Select Save or Save Changes.

The changes are applied.



Add an additional Filter to a BPME rule

If the rule record is open, select the Filter tab.

The Filter record is displayed.

If the rule record is not open, follow the steps described in 'To edit a BPME rule' to open the rule record.

Select the Add symbol.

A new Filter item is displayed below the existing item.

To create the Filter, follow the steps described in Add a Filter to a BPME rule, step 3 onward.

 

To remove a Filter from a BPME rule

If the rule record is open, select the Filter tab.

The Filter record is displayed.

If the rule record is not open, follow the steps described in 'To edit a BPME rule' to open the rule record.

Select the rubbish bin symbol next to the Filter item to be removed.

The Filter is removed.

Select Save or Save Changes.

The changes are applied.
