New STP Paid Leave Types on Leave Pay Codes (AU Only)
Description
In v12.19 an enhancement was introduced to allow a paid leave type category to be selected against leave pay codes so that leave payments and pay adjustments made against manual pay items could be categorized correctly in Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting (for more information, see https://fasttrackservice.atlassian.net/wiki/x/BICYq).
That functionality has been enhanced so that the STP Paid Leave Type field on the Rates and Rules > Maintenance > Pay Code screen for leave pay codes now includes the following two new paid leave type categories:
Cash Out of Leave in Service (C) - indicates that payments made against the leave pay code will be classified as Paid Leave Type C in STP reporting. Paid Leave Type C represents payments for chasing out the unused balance of the following types of leave while a payee is employed:
annual leave
annual leave loading (except where the applicable award/pay agreement stipulates that the leave loading is paid in compensation for loss of ability to work overtime)
rostered day off (RDO)
long service leave
personal/carers' leave (only under certain awards).
Unused Leave on Termination (U) - indicates that payments made against the leave pay code will be classified as Paid Leave Type U in STP reporting. Paid Leave Type U represents payments for chasing out the unused balance of the following types of leave on termination of a payee’s employment as a gross payment (i.e. not when paid as part of a Lump Sum A or B payment):
annual leave
annual leave loading
long service leave.

These new options are highlighted in Figure 1 below.

The paid leave type category that is defined on a leave pay code is used to determine how a payment is to be classified in STP reporting only if the payment is not linked to a leave type, such as when paying/adjusting leave payments via a manual pay item. Where a leave payment is made automatically, as is the case when leave is cashed out at the Leave Payments or Termination pay batch stages, the system refers to the paid leave type category that is defined in the header of the relevant Leave Type record to determine how to classify the payment in STP reporting.

Benefits
This enhancement provides a means by which payments for cash out of unused leave, which are triggered at the Leave Payments and Termination pay batch stages and are automatically classified as Paid Leave Type C and Paid Leave Type U payments in STP reporting respectively, can be adjusted or reversed and the adjustment or reversal will accordingly affect the Paid Leave Type C or Paid Leave Type U amount that is reported in STP.
