Fixed Accrual Leave Types
Description
Fixed accrual leave types have been enhanced to automatically adjust entitlement for new starters or terminations that start/end mid period. This has been applied to leave types that use either the leave service or pay batch to determine the accrual entitlement.
New Payee
Where a payee starts part way through a pay period, it will automatically apply the pro-rated value from the payee’s start date to the current week when the new payee record is saved. This accrual value is then visible in the Payee Leave tab.
The pro-ration is based on their fixed period value / number of calendar days in the period * days from start date to the end of the pay period.
If you amend a payee’s start date after they have been processed in a pay batch, the system will not adjust the accrual that has already been determined.
Terminated Payee
Where a payee terminates part way through a pay period, when entering the termination date via the Payee screen, it will automatically apply the pro-rated value up to the payee’s termination date. This is visible in the Payee Leave tab when the payee is saved.
The pro-ration is based on their fixed period value / number of calendar days in the period * days from start of the period to the payee’s termination date.
If a payee’s termination date is entered in the following period (late leaver notification), the system will apply the adjustment to the payee’s accrual.
If you amend a payee’s termination date after they have been processed in a pay batch, the system will not adjust the accrual that has already been determined.
Benefits
This allows for more accurate entitlement calculations and reduces the need to manually adjust entitlement when a payee starts or ends mid period.
Configuration
A flag has been added to the Leave Type > Accrual tab to specify if pro-ration is required for fixed leave accruals. Click here for a guide on how to configure a fixed leave accrual.
