Resubmitting Payday Submissions
A Payday return must be resubmitted if any of the following conditions apply:
the return has failed to be submitted successfully to the IRD (submission status is Technical Error or Rejected)
the return was submitted successfully to the IRD and accepted but there were further payments made for the same pay company, period and payment date combination after the return was submitted (submission status is Partially Completed).
If a return fails due to a technical error or a rejection, the reason for the error or rejection must be fixed before you attempt to resubmit (for more information, see Troubleshooting Payday Filing). To resubmit a Payday return, follow the same procedure as when initially submitting the return.Â
When a return fails due to a technical error or a rejection, any employment details submissions that have been triggered automatically to create, update or terminate payees' employment details as a result of submitting the return might also fail. On resubmitting the failed return, the system automatically triggers the submission of the relevant employment details submissions again so in most cases there is no need to manually resubmit employment details submissions that have failed due to a technical error or rejection. However, failed employment details submissions can also be manually resubmitted if required (for more information, see How to Resubmit an Employment Details Submission).
It is possible to manually trigger an employment details submission to report the termination of a payee's employment (for more information, see Reporting Payees' Employment Termination). Because such submissions are triggered manually, if such a submission fails due to a technical error or rejection, the only way to resubmit is to invoke the re-submission manually once the issue causing the failure has been resolved.
