Installing Outlook Extensions 2.3
Before installing Outlook Extensions 2.3 you need to:
- Check you are on FastTrack 11.36.3.01629, 11.37.0.00 or greater
- Uninstall any previous versions of Outlook Extensions
Below are details on how to:
Administrator rights are required to uninstall/install Outlook Extensions. If you don’t have Administrator rights to your computer, your IT Team will need to do this for you.
Check if Outlook Extensions is Installed
Even if the Add-ins menu isn’t showing in Outlook, it’s still possible Outlook Extensions is installed on the computer.
1.Open Add or Remove Programs
How to do this will depend on the version of Windows you are using. For most versions you can open it by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard, then start typing Add or Remove Programs. If you are unsure, check with your IT Team.
2.Check to see Outlook Extensions is installed
- Scroll down the list of programs until you find FastTrack Outlook Extensions - if it's not listed go to Install Outlook Extensions 2.3
- Click on FastTrack Outlook Extensions and check the version number:
- 1.00.0000 is an older version that needs to be uninstalled – go to Uninstall Outlook Extensions
- 2.03.0000 Outlook Extensions 2.3 is already installed. Close Add or Remove Programs and complete the Add-in Setup in Outlook
Uninstall Outlook Extensions
- Close Outlook
- In Add or Remove Programs, click Uninstall – accept any confirmation messages to uninstall
- Click Yes to “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device”
- Once the uninstall has completed close Add or Remove Programs
We recommend Outlook Extensions 2.3 is installed before opening Outlook again otherwise a "Installing Office Customization" error may appear. If the error does appear click Close.
Install Outlook Extensions 2.3
The only difference will be the Settings as you would need to add these if Outlook Extensions wasn't used before.
1.Close Outlook if it's not already
2.Download the Outlook Extensions 2.3 installation file
3.Install the file
- On your computer, go to the folder the Installation file was downloaded to - this will generally be the Downloads folder
- Double click on the FastTrack Outlook Add-ins file – an InstallShield Wizard will appear
- Click Next
- Click Install
- Click Yes to “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device”
- Click Finish
4.Add-In Setup
- Open Outlook
- Click Add-ins menu – if Add-ins menu doesn’t show refer to Load behaviour of Outlook Extensions
- Click Settings - if Release: 2.3.0.0 doesn’t show in bottom left, close Outlook and Uninstall Outlook Extensions
- Enter/Check details in the following tabs - further details below
- Once all details have been checked, click Submit – if General Settings details are valid a ‘Settings saved successfully’ message will appear. If a different message appears go to Common Submit Errors
General Settings
If Outlook Extensions was previously setup, these details will already be populated. We recommend you check the details are correct. If there are no details, enter your FastTrack360:
- URL - to ensure the correct URL is entered we recommend you copy the URL from your FastTrack360 login page
- Login details - if you change your FastTrack360 password, you will need to update the Password here
Task and Error Logging
This tab shows:
- Task and Reminders - the Sync interval for Tasks set in FastTrack Maintenance > General Items
- Logging - Enable error logging and open the error log. Error logging will be disabled by default, it only needs to be enabled if errors occur.
None of these need to be checked on installation.
Comms Integration
This tab will only appear if Outlook Extensions has previously been setup and you have the relevant permission in FastTrack360 to sync emails. Once you’ve successfully submitted the Add-in Settings and you've confirmed you have the relevant permission click on Settings to see this tab. If it's not displaying, get your FastTrack Administrator to check your permissions in FastTrack360.
If you don't want emails to be automatically synced to FastTrack360, ensure Enable Sync is unticked.
If Enable Sync is already ticked either:
- Check the selected folders are correct - if you have multiple folders click + to see all folders
- if you no longer want emails to be automatically synced, untick Enable Sync
Proxy Settings
Only required if a Proxy is used for Internet access. Check with your IT Team if you are unsure whether a Proxy is used.
If a Proxy is not used, ensure Enable Proxy is unticked.
If a Proxy is used, tick Enable Proxy and enter the Proxy Credentials. Your IT Team will need to provide these details.
Common Submit Errors
Below are details of common errors that occur when clicking Submit and how to fix them.

Username and/or Password is not valid | The Username or Password entered in General Settings does not match details in FastTrack360, ie an old password has been entered. | Enter the same Username and Password used to log into FastTrack360 |
Must be a valid URL | The URL entered in General Settings is not a valid FastTrack360 URL, ie there is a spelling mistake. | Go to your FastTrack360 login page, copy the URL and paste it in the FastTrack URL field |
