How to Create a GST or VAT Rate
To create a GST / VAT rate, follow the procedure below.
If one or more GST / VAT rates have already been created for the same payroll company, take note of the end date of the latest existing GST / VAT rate. If the latest existing GST / VAT rate does not have an end date, you will need to close off the validity period of that GST / VAT rate by setting a validity end date on that GST / VAT rate before you can create a new GST / VAT rate.
1. | Navigate to Payroll > Maintenance > GST Rate. The GST Rate Maintenance screen opens. | Â |
2. | Click Add. The GST Rate screen opens.
3. | Next to the Validity Start Date field, click the date button and use the calendar control to select the date on which the GST / VAT rate is to become effective. Note that if there is already a GST / VAT rate for the same payroll country, the date you select must be the day after the validity end date of the last GST / VATrate.
4. | Next to the Validity End Date field, click the date button and use the calendar control to select the date on which the GST / VAT rate is to expire. Alternatively, skip this step if the GST / VAT rate is to remain effective indefinitely.
5. | In the Rate % field, key in the applicable rate. For example, if the GST rate is 10%, key in 10. | Â |
6. | Click Save. The GST Rate screen closes and the new GST / VAT rate is saved. |
