Creating & Maintaining Master Pages (Style Sheets)

This section explains how master pages, which define the look and feel of questionnaire pages, can be created and maintained via the Questionnaire Maintenance module Style Sheet maintenance tile.

Master pages are templates that frame questionnaire pages. Master pages can be used to display objects that define the look and feel of questionnaire pages such as logos and other branding devices, links and terms and conditions statements.

As with the actual questionnaire pages, master pages are linked to a category that determines which master page is used depending on the category that applies to a questionnaire page. External references are also set on master pages in order to define the objects within a category to which each master page applies. For example, a master page linked to the Melbourne office within the Office category will be applied to the questionnaire page linked to the Melbourne office within the Office category.

However, unlike the actual questionnaire pages, each master page can be linked to multiple categories at any given time. That means that a single master page can be applied to questionnaire pages belonging to various categories.

A master page is created within the Questionnaire Maintenance module by importing the code that defines the content that will appear on questionnaire pages to which the master page will be applied. The master page is then linked to one or more categories and external references within each of the linked categories.

One master page can be flagged as the default master page. The default master page is used for all category/external reference combinations that are not linked to a specific master page.
