CIS

Construction Industry Scheme.

A specific tax regime for those working in construction.

CIS300

The name of the form that contains the payments and tax deducted from CIS tax types for each tax month.



NI Category/NI Letter

A specific alphabetical letter that defines how much National Insurance contribution an employee and employer will contribute.

NI Number

National Insurance Number. The unique identifier used by government bodies to identify you as a person in the United Kingdom.

P45

A document given to employees when they terminate from their employment that details their earnings, tax and student loan deductions. The P45 is then given to the new employer to transfer the data onto the new employment.

P60

A document given at the end of a tax year to provide employees details of their earnings, tax, employee and employer NI contributions, child related payments, student loan and postgraduate loan deductions.

RTI

Real Time Information. This is the overarching name for the submission and receipt of forms between employers and HMRC. The supported forms in FastTrack360 are:

  • Full Payment Submission (FPS)

  • Employer Payment Submission (EPS)

  • CIS300

  • CIS Verification Requests

  • Tax code updates (P6, P6B, P9)

  • Student Loan update (SL1, SL2)

  • Postgraduate Loan update (PGL1, PGL2)

 

Tax Code

Tax codes are used to work out how much Income Tax to take from pay.

Tax Regime

The tax rates and bandings can vary between Scotland, Wales and the remaining countries that make up the United Kingdom. These are defined by the Regime which is a character that can precede a tax code. The character can either be 'C' for Welsh tax or 'S' for Scottish Tax else it would be blank.

UTR Number

Unique Tax Payer Reference Number. A UTR (unique taxpayer reference) number is a 10-digit number completely unique to each and every UK taxpayer. It is used as an identifier in the software where a payee has a business and the agency is a registered business with the HMRC.
