Description
Leave Types configured under Leave > Maintenance > Leave Type can be configured with Reset Rule, which determine how and when the balance of a leave accrual or entitlement is reset. For example, the remaining balance of annual holiday accrual can be reset if unused for 12 months from the anniversary of accrual.
The Reset At field on the Leave > Maintenance > Leave Type > Leave Type Entry > Leave Set > Reset Rule screen, which is highlighted in the example below, defines at what point the Reset Rule is triggered.
Previously, the options that could be selected from the Reset At field included the following:
Pay Batch
Pay Batch (on termination only)
Service.
In this release, the Pay Batch option, which reset leave balances at the start of a pay batch, has been removed as it is no longer applicable because of the introduction of Multi-period Payroll (MPP) functionality in the Payroll module in this release.
Benefits
This enhancement compliments the introduction of MPP functionality. As part of the MPP, the order of the Leave Payment and Accrue Leave pay batch stages have been switched in the Payroll module, so now leave accruals happen before leave payments. When the accrual happens for each period in the pay batch, Transfer Rules are triggered to transfer accruals into entitlement before the accrual for the next period that is included in the pay batch. So this enhancement prevents the balance of leave being reset before the leave balance is available to be transferred into entitlement.
Configuration
No configuration required.
If the Pay Batch option is selected in the Reset At field on any Reset Rule on a leave type, on upgrade the option will be automatically defaulted to the Service option instead. That means the Reset Rule will be triggered when the Leave Service runs (usually once daily), subject to all other conditions of the Rest Rule being met, as opposed to at the start of a pay batch.
