You can add system-defined components and custom components to the layout of a document format. For more information about system-defined and custom components, see Layout Components.
To add a system-defined component to the layout of a document format, follow the procedure below.

How to Add a System-defined Layout Component

 

1.

If you do not have a document format open already, open a document format in the Document Format screen.

2.

In the Component List and Property Grid panel of the Document Format screen, click Components.
A list of the layout components for the document format are displayed within the Component List and Property Grid panel and a tick is displayed next to each component that is currently included in the document format, as show in the example below.

Click the checkbox next to any listed component that does not display a tick.
A tick is displayed in the checkbox and the component appears within the document layout.


To add a custom component to the layout of a document format, follow the procedure below.

How to Add a Custom Component

 

1.

If you do not have a document format open already, open a document format in the Document Format screen.

2.

In the Component List and Property Grid pane of the Document Format screen, click Components.
A list of the layout components for the document format are displayed within the Component List and Property Grid panel and a tick is displayed next to each component that is currently included in the document format, as show in the example below.

Click .
The Document Format New Component screen opens.

 

4.

In the Format Type field, select the type of custom layout component you want to add to the layout. For more information about the available layout components, see Layout Components.

 

5.

In the Name field, type a unique name that identifies the purpose of the component.

 

6.

Click .
The Document Format New Component screen closes and the name of the component you have added appears in the list of components in the Component List and Property Grid pane of the screen and is displayed in the top left-hand corner of the document layout.

 

Note:
You can delete custom components that are no longer required by clicking on the relevant custom component within thecomponents list in the Component List and Property Grid panel to select the component and then click.
