You can add system-defined components and custom components to the layout of a document format. Add a System-defined Layout Component

To add a system-defined component to the layout of a document format, follow the procedure below.

If you do not have a document format open already, open a document format in the Document Format screen.

How to Add a Custom Component

If you do not have a document format open already, open a document format in the Document Format screen.

In the Component List and Property Grid pane of the Document Format screen, click Components.
A list of the layout components for the document format are displayed within the Component List and Property Grid panel and a tick is displayed next to each component that is currently included in the document format, as show in the example below.

Go to Maintenance > Document Designer Section > Document Formats.

The Document Format screen opens.

In the Component List and Property Grid panel of the Document Format screen, click Components.
A list of the layout components for the document format are displayed within the Component List and Property Grid panel and a tick is displayed next to each component that is currently included in the document format, as show in the example below.

Click the checkbox next to any listed component that does not display a tick.
A tick is displayed in the checkbox and the component appears within the document layout.

Apply the Search criterion required to find the document format you wish to edit, and click Search.

Click the view action next to the document format you wish to edit.

The Edit Document Format screen displays.

In the left hand component panel, click in the checkbox next to the system component you wish to add.

A tick is displayed in the checkbox and the component appears within the document layout.

Add a Custom Component to the layout of a document format

1.

Follow steps 1 - 3 above to open the document format you wish to edit.

At the header of the Component List, click Add.

The Document Format New Component screen opens.

In the Format Type field, select the type of custom layout component you want to add to the layout. For more information about the available layout components, see Layout Components.

 


5.

In the Name field, type a unique name that identifies the purpose of the component.

 

6.

Click OK.

The Document Format New Component screen closes and the name of the component you have added appears

in the list of components

in the Component List

and Property Grid pane of the screen and is displayed in the top left-hand corner of the document layout.

You can delete custom components that are no longer required by clicking on the relevant custom component within the components list
