Description
To determine National Minimum Wage, it has to be identified:
Which pay codes are used to identify a payee’s basic pay rate and
Which pay codes hours are used as worked time to be included in the total hours
The reason these have to be identified is:
If a payee is paid overtime, the premia value cannot be used to determine the minimum wage, only the worked hours in conjunction with the payee’s basic rate.
Not all pay codes should be considered as part of the NMW determination. For example, any type of allowance that is an enhancement to their pay should be excluded.
The following fields have been added to the Pay Code screen:
Field | Description | Rules |
---|---|---|
NMW Base Rate | Identifies if a pay code is the payees basic pay rate code. There should be a pay code against the payee’s job rate that has a pay code determining that it is their basic pay. If this is not set against the job order, it will not be possible to assess NMW. |

Included in NMW Determination | Identifies if the units applied against this pay code is included in the NMW determination. |

Salary Sacrifice | This has been added for future development whereby salary sacrifice pension schemes can be applied. It has no function at this current time. |
