Description

The logic behind how the existing Superannuation Contributions Report and the Superannuation Accrual Report include superannuation transfer transactions has been enhanced. Previously, a superannuation transfer transaction was only included on the aforementioned reports if the transfer occurred on a date that fell within the pay periods of the pay batches that were referenced by the report. Now, if the these reports are filtered by a payment date from and payment date to date range, the reports will include superannuation transfer transactions that occur within the payment date from/to date range and not just those transfer transactions that occurred within the pay periods that correspond to the pay batches from which the reports obtain data.

For example, if the reports are filtered by a payment date from/to range of 01/07/2020 - 30/09/2020, the reports will include superannuation transfer transactions that occurred within the date range 01/07/2020 - 30/09/2020 irrespective of the latest pay period end date of any pay batch that the reports reference. Info

Payee specific search criteria (such as Payee No., Pay Company, Tax Type and Superannuation Fund) will limit the superannuation transfer transactions that are returned on the reports. Pay batch specific search criteria (such as Pay Batch No From, Pay Batch No To and Pay Batch Type) will only limit the pay batch superannuation transactions and not the superannuation transfer transactions that occur outside of the pay batch process.

For example, the Superannuation Accrual report can be filtered by Payee No. So if the report is filtered by payment date from 01/05/2020, payment date to 31/05/2020 and payee no. 500000001, the report will show the following:

  • superannuation transactions that occurred for payee 500000001 in a pay batch where the payment date of the pay batch was in the range 01/05/2020 - 31/05/2020

  • any superannuation transfer transactions that occurred for payee 500000001 (and only for payee 500000001) that occurred during the date range 01/05/2020 - 31/05/2020.

If the report is filtered by the by payment date from 01/05/2020, payment date to 31/05/2020 and by a pay batch type of Adjustment Batch, the report should show the following:

  • superannuation transactions that occurred in an adjustment pay batch, where the payment date of the adjustment batch was in the range 01/05/2020 to 31/05/2020

  • superannuation transfers that occurred in the date range 01/05/2020 to 31/05/2020.

If a payment date range is not specified in the report filtering criteria, only those superannuation transfer transactions that occurred on dates within the pay periods of the pay batches, which are referenced by the report, are included on the report.

Benefits

This enhancement helps prevent the inadvertent omission of superannuation transfers when reporting on superannuation transactions. For example, if a superannuation transfer is triggered before the end of a superannuation contribution period but after the pay period end date of the last pay batch that is processed within that contribution period, the superannuation transfer transaction can be picked up and shown on the report.
