How to Report Employment Termination
To trigger the reporting of a payee's employment termination, follow the procedure below.
The payee's employment must be end-dated on the Payee Entry screen before you can report the termination of the employer/employee relationship to the IRD through Payday filing.
Once the termination of the employer/employee relationship has been reported to the IRD, you cannot change the payee's employment end date; the employment end date will be locked down on the Payee Entry screen.
How to Trigger the Reporting of a Payee's Employment Termination | |

1 | Navigate to Payroll > IR Electronic Reporting > Payday Payee Reporting. The Payday Payee Reporting screen opens. The Submission Search tab is active and, by default, lists all employment details submissions that have failed (submission status of Technical Error or Rejected) since the start of the previous day. |
2 | Click on the Payee tab. The Payee Search tab is activated. |
3 | In the Employment End Dated field in the Search section at the top of the screen, select Yes. In the search header on the Payee Search tab, tick the Employment End Dated field and key or select any other information about the payee whose employment termination is to be reported. |
4 | In the Search section at the top of the screen, key or select any other information about the payee whose employment termination is to be reported and click Search. Payees whose employment has been end-date and who meet any other search criteria you have specified are listed in the Results section of the screen. |
5 | In the Results section of the screen, tick the checkbox at the start of the row next to the relevant payee and click Submit Termination to IRD. A confirmation message opens, prompting you to confirm that you want to send a terminate submission to the IRD. |
6 | To continue to submit the termination, click Yes. The confirmation message closes and a terminate submission is sent to the IRD to report the termination of the employer/employee relationship. |
