How to Configure WorkCover Super & Salary Sacrifice Rules

WorkCover superannuation and salary sacrifice rules must be configured to determine if different categories of superannuation contributions and/or salary sacrificed earnings are to be included in the earnings based on which WorkCover liabilities will be calculated for each respective state and territory.

The WorkCover superannuation and salary sacrifice rules are validity date driven. Once a set of rules have been used in a pay batch, the rules are locked down and cannot be edited or deleted for that validity period. A new set of rules can be defined at any time so long as the start date of the validity period for the rule set does not fall on or before the latest payment date of an open or closed pay batch.

It will not be possible to create a pay batch unless a valid set of WorkCover superannuation and salary sacrifice rules exist for the payment date of the pay batch. Therefore, it is important that these rules are configured before attempting to process pay batches.

How to Configure the WorkCover Super & Salary Sacrifice Rules

1.

Go to Payroll > Maintenance > WorkCover > Super & Salary Sacrifice Rules.

The Super & Salary Sacrifice Rules screen opens.

2.

If one or more rule sets already exist, select the validity period of the latest existing period in the date range field at the top of the screen and proceed to step 3.
If there are no existing rule sets and you are creating a rule set for the first time, skip this step and proceed to step 4.

3.

Next to the End Date field, click the calendar button and use the calendar control to set a validity end date for the last rule set that is currently defined.

4.

Click Add.

A new, blank rule set is created.

5.

Next to the Start Date field, click the calendar button and use the calendar control to set a validity start date for the new rule set.

6.

For each State and Territory that is listed, tick the relevant options depending on the rules that are to apply for the validity period of the rule set. For more information about each of the available options for each state/territory, see WorkCover Maintenance.

7.

Click Save.

The new rule set is saved and a confirmation message is displayed.
