Leave Set Loading & Display Enhancements

Description

Changes have been made in this release to the way that leave sets, which belong to a leave type, are loaded and displayed on the Leave > Maintenance > Leave Type > Edit Leave Type screen in Silverlight.

A new Leave Set Filter panel has been added to the left-hand side of the Edit Leave Type screen, as highlighted in the example below, to allow users to filter the leave sets that are loaded based on specific criteria.

The Leave Set Filter panel allows the user to filter the list of leave sets that are loaded and displayed in the Leave Sets panel based on the following criteria:

  • start and end dates of the leave set validity period

  • whether the leave set has been used (i.e. there have been leave transactions processed against the leave set)

  • earliest and latest dates on which the leave set was last used

  • the hierarchy level to which the leave set is assigned

  • the hierarchy value that applies to the leave set.

Whenever a user opens an existing leave type in the Edit Leave type screen, the leave set filtering criteria defaults so that only those leave sets that are valid on today's date and have been used in the last twelve months are loaded and listed in the Leave Sets pane. To list other leave sets that exist for the leave type, the user can change the filtering criteria and click Search.

The way that leave sets are displayed in the Leave Sets pane on the Edit Leave type screen has been changed to a hierarchical tree view, whereby the highest level of the tree is the leave set hierarchy level, followed by the leave set name, followed by the rules belonging to the leave set.

For example, the next example below shows an example of a leave type with two leave sets; one leave set is linked to the Client level of the hierarchy and one leave set is linked to the Employment Type level of the hierarchy. In this example, the leave set that is linked to the Employment Type hierarchy level is expanded to show the accrual, transfer, reset and deduction rule branches under the leave type. The deduction rule branch is further expanded to show the individual deduction rules that exist for the leave set.

Benefits

This enhancement improves system performance by reducing the amount of time taken to open an existing leave type because the system does not need to attempt to load all leave sets that are linked to a leave type whenever the Edit Leave Type screen is initially opened.

Users can easily see how many leave sets exist at each level of the leave set hierarchy and can filter out leave sets that are not relevant thereby making it easier for users to find a leave set that needs to be viewed or edited.
