Description
A new field labelled Passport Country has been added to the View Candidate Details section of the Payroll > Payee > Payee Entry screen to allow the name of the country that issued the passport on which a payee entered Australia, if the payee is working in Australia under a visa.
An example of the Passport Country field is shown below.
The Passport Country field is available for all payees but is mandatory for payees who have a tax status of Working Holiday Maker.
Benefits
Under STP Phase 2 reporting it is mandatory for an employer to report the country that issued a Working Holiday Maker (WHM) the passport on which the WHM entered Australia to work. This informs the ATO if the WHM may qualify for Australian tax residency due to any applicable tax treaties with the WHMs country of origin and therefore if the WHM may be eligible for a tax refund at the end of a financial year.
Therefore, this enhancement allows you to configure Payee records accordingly in preparation for STP Phase 2 reporting, which will be introduced in FastTrack360 later in 2022.
Configuration
On upgrade, the Passport Country field defaults to blank for all existing payees. If you employ WHM you will need to
ou will be unable to save changes to such Payee records after upgrading until you select the relevant variation type for each payee validity period where the tax scale is set to Variation - Approved Withholding Variation Percentage.
When adding a new payee who has a tax scale of Variation - Approved Withholding Variation Percentage you will also be unable to create the new Payee record unless you select an option in the Variation Type field.
