Problem
When the Primary Resume Preview section has been added to a user’s Candidate record layout, the Candidates primary resume will automatically display in that section so long as it is has a valid file type.
If the Resume isn’t displayed and it has a valid file type, it is likely due to the browser being used. Below are details on how to check if the browser is the cause.
Valid file types are PDF or MS Office documents which include Word, Excel, Powerpoint
Solution
Chrome
The Resume can’t be displayed if Chrome is configured to download PDF files. To check this
Open Chrome and click More > Settings
In Search settings enter PDF
Click on Site settings
Scroll down and click on Additional content settings
Scroll down and click on PDF documents
If Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome is on (blue), it will need to be turned for the Resume preview to work
Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer doesn’t have it’s own PDF reader so the Resume can’t be displayed unless a PDF reader program is installed on the PC.
If a PDF reader program isn’t installed on your PC, one will need to be installed otherwise use Chrome to view Candidate records.
If you are unsure how to check if a PDF reader program is installed or how to install one, please contact your IT Team.
If Adobe Acrobat Reader is installed and the below error occurs, it is due to Adobe’s Protect Mode being enabled.
To disable the Protect Mode
Open Adobe Acrobat Reader
Click Edit > Preferences
In the Categories list, select Security (Enhanced)
Untick Enabled Protected Mode at startup > click Yes > click Ok
As this is a Security setting you may need to check with your IT Team before disabling.
